Choose A Venue That Matches Your Decor
If you’re already set on your decor and/or colors, you’re going to want to make sure the venue lines up with those expectations.
If your colors are purple and silver, you won’t want to rent a venue where the drapes are navy blue and the only chair option is gold. The same goes for any place with unconventional flooring or wall dressings; they may look cool and unique in isolation, but be sure to visualize how they would fit with your ideal wedding.
Paint By Numbers
Don’t forget that the maximum occupancy of the venue means your guests will be a bit squished. It’s important to choose a venue that can fit all of your guests comfortably.
But when looking at your guest list, don’t expect everyone who was invited to show up. A good rule of thumb is that about 80% of your guest list will show up, but it’s still a good idea to expect 100% when choosing your venue.
Match The Size Of The Space To Your Budget
When you’re looking at your budget, be sure to include extra costs depending on the size of your venue; the venue size can end up affecting not only its own line on the budget, but others too. If you’ve budget $500 for flowers and decor, that might need to be bumped up if you’re renting a larger space for the wedding or reception.
Be Flexible On Your Dates
If you have three venues you’re really interested in, you’re going to want to be ready with a few dates in mind too.
Unless you have a great reasons for getting married on a specific date, being able to be flexible allows you to possibly get a venue you otherwise wouldn’t have gotten!
